Giannis Stoitsis

Giannis Stoitsis received the Diploma of Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2002, and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Patras in 2004 and 2007, respectively.

His research interests include bioinformatics, image processing, and advanced Web technologies. He has participated (as a technical manager or research associate) in several EU-funded and National Research initiatives.

He has been affiliated with several research and academic institutions in Greece, such as the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA).

Currently Giannis is serving as the Managing Director of Agro-Know and is largely responsible for designing, setting up, supporting and refining complex processes that can efficiently be integrated in the management and coordination of large EU initiatives. He is also responsible for guiding the research & development activities of the group that are related to Semantic Web and Bioinformatics applications for agricultural and Biodiversity applications. Giannis is also working as an external consultant for organisations like the Greek Research and Technology Network (GRNET) and the University of Alcala, Spain. Moreover he is serving as a member of the expert teams consulting the coordination of CIP PSP Organic.Lingua and the CIP PSP Natural Europe initiatives.
