Anastasios (aka Tasos) Koutoumanos holds a Ph.D. in Software Engineering (2000) and a diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens.

His research is focused on the fields of Software Engineering, Hypermedia Systems, Distributed Computing and Advanced Learning Technologies.

He has participated as a paid expert in the Information Society Standardization System of the European Committee of Standardization (CEN/ISSS) Learning Technologies Workshop and has been involved in several European Commission funded projects as a coordinator or primary researcher.

As an entrepreneur and consultant he has motivated and helped private and public organisations, including banks, publishing houses, defence industry, universities and training institutions, to employ ICT-based technologies and media for the design and implementation of e-learning environments, as well as for utilising software engineering methods and processes towards successful deployment of large-scale, open information systems.
